In April 2022, I met Lek & Sowat, two acclaimed urban street artists with a shared passion for Urbex (Urban Exploration)—the art of discovering and creating in abandoned spaces. Their work, rooted in urban aesthetics and site-specific installations, was soon to be exhibited at Atelier Grognard near my home in France.
Local artists were invited to collaborate with urban artists Lek & Sowat during the installation of their exhibition. Inspired by their aesthetic, I decided to paint their portrait, interpreting their urban sensibility through my own painterly approach.

The completed portrait was subsequently displayed within the museum alongside their exhibition, allowing visitors to experience the dialogue between my interpretation and the artists’ immersive urban creations.
During this collaboration, Lek & Sowat were so inspired by my portrait that they asked to trade one of their own works in exchange. This mutual artistic exchange highlights the creative dialogue between street art and contemporary painting, reflecting the respect and connection established between artists across disciplines.
